A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Commonwealth East District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Give thanks to the Lord, call upon Him, make Him known. He is the Lord our God. The many verbs used in these verses reflect the different dimensions of the praise offered to God by his people. In difficult times we should, as His children, talk about His wonders and how He cares for us. Let us pray Lord, our beloved Father. We praise you and thank you for your great love. We have been cared for and supported by You in this time of doubt, uncertainty, fear and many losses. In this time of trouble, the Lord has not left us alone. Just as You kept your servant Joseph when sold as a slave by his brothers, also during all the time he was in prison and as You also kept the prophet Elijah hidden in that cave, the Lord has kept us too. Help us, O God, to be living witnesses of your great love at all times. Just as you have been faithful to your people. We continue to trust and wait on You because we know that in your hands we are safe. We pray in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
