Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
God does ask us to sacrifice some things- in some rare cases to sacrifice everything. When Jesus went into the desert, he sacrificed everything in order to be fully in line with God’s plans for him. When we sacrifice worldly things for spiritual things, it brings us closer to God, and closer to understanding His will.
Father God, you don’t ask much from me, yet you ask everything. I am yours. I want to be a living sacrifice for you. Amen

To be a living sacrifice is no easy calling. Am I able to live every minute of every day as an offering and service to the Lord.. Does it mean laying down my own ambitions, dreams, gifts, and fears, and telling God, do whatever you want with me I am your servant. understanding that this is what a living sacrifice is, I must be ready to reject things that do not line up with God’s word, devote myself to having my mind renewed, and to learn how to recognize the will of God for my live. 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sister, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
This verse calls out to me to commit myself to God in living within all the commandments. To always do whatever I can to live the life that is pleasing to God. Without sacrifice this cannot be possible. I will live my life in complete devotion to God and to please him.

I can’t conceive of being a living sacrifice. My life has always been, and still is to some extent, too wrapped up in family and work and other activities. I may be looking at this wrong but it seems that these things would have to become a distant second in my life in order to become a living sacrifice. I will have to continue to do, and be, what I can and hope it is enough.
