Psalm 119:105,130
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
These verses from Psalms remind me of the priceless value of Jesus' words found in scripture. Before Christ walked this earth, there were times the Israelites heard directly from God, and these words were precious to them. We have those words and works but also the direct record of Jesus' own words as he walked this earth! We refer to all of this, our Bible, as God's Word. This is where we go for direction, for answers, for comfort, for truth, for so many things. God's word truly is a light for my path!
Holy One, you are amazing and full of grace. It is difficult for me to express just how precious your Word is to me. I am truly thankful, Lord. Amen

Psalm 119:105 and 130
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
When I read scripture I don’t fully understand, I will refer to both prior and subsequent verses to allow myself time to meditate on its meaning so I can understand it, in order to paraphrase. (referring to verse 130). It’s part of my humanity to rely on myself , but I will fully admit I am not smart enough to understand the mind of God. The word “light” has become so familiar to me as I grow spiritually. Light means to illuminate to become bright…
Psalm 119:105 and 130
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
The teaching of your word gives light so even the simple can understand.
Regardless of the wording of 130, unfolding, break open, teaching, or understanding your word, I feel as if it should come before 105. We need to be taught, we need to understand, we need to actually open our bibles so his words light the way of our journey.
Prayer: Gracious God, I thank you again for this group of transformers that encourages the reading and application of your words as we journey through this life. Amen
Psalm 119:105,130 It is impossible not to hear the voice of Amy Grant whenever I read verse 105 of the 119th Psalm. Both the verse and the memory of Grant’s song are sources of joy and comfort for me, capturing the essence of the Word as light. Verse 130 seems more complex. How does one “unfold” light. It will be interesting to see what word other translations use. In any case, the implication seems to be while the light is there (like prevenient grace), there must be some step taken for that light to be effective in our understanding of the Word. I look forward to reading and hearing the thoughts of the Transformers on this.
Prayer - Thank You, Lord…
