John 15:1-8
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.”
The devotional writing today hits home, and along with the scripture, it is tough for me to get away from the feeling of falling short. It has become more natural for me now to turn to God and give thanks when I experience blessings, or recognize blessings. Likewise, when I am troubled, I quickly turn to God. But what about all of the rest of the days? It is way too easy to get caught up in life, responsibilities, work, etc. God may be ready to guide me and lead me during those times, or to show me something wonderful. Do I look for God everywhere? He is everywhere, all of the time.
Lord, you are with me, always. Help me to recognize your presence in my everyday, and to see and hear those moments when you are speaking to me. Amen

John 15:1-8.
I like to think I am a strong branch always producing for God. The reality is a bit different. It is so esy to get caught up in the busyness of life and put God off to the side. Thank goodness for our Trasformers Group. Unlike a bible study that meets one a week with some discussion, we ae in His word five days a week. Not just reading, but reflecting and writing. My hope is this is strengthening my branch.
Pryr: Gracious God, help me keep you close all the time. AMEN
John 15:1-8
Last spring, I purchased two tiny little blackberry plants. I transplanted them into bigger pots and they flourished and grew. Then came autumn and a very harsh winter, and I have to admit, I didn’t give the poor little plants the daily attention that they needed. This spring when I did my seasonal cleaning, I saw the brown and brittle canes lying on the ground, goners, so I thought. I took the desperate little plants and pruned them back, removed the dead canes and gave them a good shot of fertilizer. They began to flourish once more. I have since potted them up again and created a trellis for them. I check them and nurture them daily, eve…

IN BETWEEN DAYS
FOCUS TO MAKE TIME FOR GOD EACH DAY
TODAY’s READING JOHN 15 :1-8
John 15:5
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Jesus’s command here is the sweetest and most generous of any invitation. Jesus paints a picture here of a living vine — green, full of fruit, and flourishing. Jesus is together with those he loves. This is real you-in-me and me-in-you connection and relationship with Jesus. We are not meant to live apart from others anymore than we live apart from Jesus. We need one another, we consider…
John 15:1-8
Like Becky, I really found this morning’s Upper Room reflection convicting. I don’t know that I look at daily life that way often enough. During our first Camino I read Brother Lawrence’s, Practicing the Presence of God. This little book, written centuries ago, is a guide to do just what is described in the reflection, seeking and finding God’s presence in the everyday tasks of life. This was much easier to put into action when my only task was to walk to the next destination. It takes a bit more effort when back home in the midst of chores, errands, work deadlines and demands, meetings and the overall busyness we all face. Taking the time to start each…
