A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, March 2

Mark 16:14-15

Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation….”

My world seems small when I think about these words from Jesus. I travel within a very small circle most of the time. But Jesus didn’t want his disciples to just huddle together; he wanted them to spread out and share the good news. The good news is not exclusive, but inclusive. (I am still preoccupied with our conversation about unity last night. It has changed me.)

Holy Father, Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and I am truly thankful. Amen

Mark 16:14-15

As believers we have come to know Christ and have experienced forgiveness of sin and His transforming power in our lives, now we have a story to tell. Jesus wants us to tell about his story. The purpose is so others will know, and believe — and will also receive eternal life. I don’t feel that I have the skills or enough knowledge to be a witness for Jesus. The disciples were told to go preach about Jesus to all creation. What a task this would be. Evangelism doesn’t require anything more than an open heart and the Word of God. I shouldn't be disappointed if and when the person I am talking with isn’t immediately moved…

I must first have a relationship with Christ in order to bring Jesus to another person. As I attempt to follow Jesus’ teaching I have to know as much as I can about God and the Bible. The Transformers meetings are one way of increasing my understanding of the Bible. I will also need to show Christ’ love in all that I do by being kind, understanding, forgivi…

Mark 16:14-15

Before sending the apostles out, Jesus gave them a difficult truth for self-reflection; their continued lack of faith. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of 40 days of self-reflection for all Christians. I have a great deal of shortcomings to reflect upon and hope to emerge from this holy season closer to Jesus in the way I live and relate to others.

Prayer - Jesus, You have commanded Your followers to preach the good news to all creation. Let me learn from this period of introspection, effectively address where I fall short and become a better witness for the Kingdom.

Lord, our prayers in the days ahead will include special intercession for peace and comfort for Barbara and David.…

Mark 16:14–15 15. And then he told him, “go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone.“ I imagine that for centuries this verse and the others like it, have moved many to go into the mission field. For many that mission field is literally the world. But for others that mission field is a small as their own home, Church, and community. Teaching our children the good news, being active in our churches missions, and being an example for our community are every bit as important, maybe even more. The people around us need to see what the good news has done for us. Home, Church, and community is a vital mission field. Prayer: gracious God, although I hav…
