Hebrews 13:7-8
Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
These verses remind me that we can benefit from mentors even after they have left us. The wisdom we gain from Christian mentors does not change or become outdated. We can remember them, and remember what they taught us and how they lived. Of course, Jesus was the greatest mentor ever. Can you imagine being assigned Jesus as your mentor? We all have been assigned Jesus!
Holy God, you have allowed me to know many wonderful people who have put you first in their lives. I can continue to learn from them, even after they are gone. Above all, you sent your Son. I am forever grateful. Amen
Becky, transforming
Hebrews 13:7–8
There have been so many people who have influenced my faith from my parents and family, to Sunday school teachers, church leaders, and many pastors. As an adult, there is always someone I work with or are friends with who have added to my faith. I would definitely include transformers in this group. I feel as if I am always learning something from someone. I hope I have carried that learning forward to many others throughout the years. And yes, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Prayer:Gracious God, help me to continue spreading your love in many ways for a long time. Amen

Faith comes by listening and hearing the Word of God. The more we hear the Word of God the more we build and strengthen our faith. In the book of Hebrews, we learn that no matter…
Hebrews 13:7-8 I did not fully understand the depth of this passage until starting study at United. In our first year we were assigned to write our “spiritual biography.” Mine was a bit clunky and unfocused. In our second year it was to be revised and mine started to come together. I later learned this was a required document for the ordination process, and doing my final updates and revisions in preparation for my interviews last month was much easier than if I had to start from scratch. What I have learned in the process is just how many good people are in my personal great cloud of witnesses and the contributions each has made in my spiritual formation and development.…
