Luke 6:38
"Give, and it will be give to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
I love this verse; the imagery is so perfect. Jesus reminds us to be generous and fair in all of our dealings. This is the only way to expect to be dealt with fairly in the future. When we treat anyone with generosity and fairness, they are much more likely to do the same in their dealings with others. In this way we are shining the light of Christ.
Holy Lord, help me to remember to be fair and generous with others. I deserve to be treated just exactly as I treat others. Amen

Luke 6:38 Although this verse was written by Luke about judging or not judging others, we can apply our gifts of time, talents, and generosity to this verse. Again as in Psalm 23 and Psalm 130, Luke gives us the best picture of God’s generous nature – It runs over and is poured into our lap. Like the cup that runs over and the redemption overflowing, I think we can finally understand the magnitude of God’s love for us all. Prayer: gracious God, I know of your generosity. My cup overflows. Amen

Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
The more generous we become as God leads us to give and share with others, the more we will be blessed. Generosity also involves our attitude toward others. Quick to forgive and slow to anger. We celebrate what others do well and never mention what they might do wrong. God expects us to give to others what he gives to us. Kind of reminds me of the golden rule. God first gives to us and Jesus says we are…
Luke 6: 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
In this verse Jesus expands on the principle of “give and it will be given to you.” If I give to others in little acts of kindness or a generous attitude of concern, it makes me feels so wonderful. This is my reward.
Dearest Lord, you sent your Son to pay the price for my sins. This generous nature of yours is one I cherish. I pray that I will show the love, generosity, goodness and grace of your Son to…
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you.
This thought doesn’t say that you will receive what you have given in kind. If I give a monetary donation, I will not get money in return from another source. What I do get is the satisfaction of doing the right thing. I don’t ever remember thinking that if I had not made that pledge to the church, or made that donation to that charity, I would be better off. Many times it is the giving of ourselves that is the most important way to give.
Dear Lord, You have taught that sharing is central to being a Christian. You blessed me with a church kindergarten teacher who had us…
Luke 6:38
This verse reminds me of an exercise used in youth ministry and in Scouting to demonstrate untapped potential. A container is filled with rocks and the group is asked if the container is full. Pebbles are then poured around the rocks and the same question posed, then sand. Lastly, water is added to overflowing. God gives like that, and we are encouraged to do so as well. While we can never “out-give” God, God’s generosity should be our model in life.
Prayer - Giving God, grace me with the sense of generosity that can give to others freely, confident in the boundless nature of Your provision for us. Amen
