Matthew 27:19
While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."
This is a different kind of a dream- not a message, per se, or a daydream, but the woman's own thoughts and feelings, rolling around in her brain all night, and convincing her by morning that her husband shouldn't get involved with the "handling" of Jesus. God is involved in everything that we do, so I suppose God was part of the woman's dreaming in some way, but scripture doesn't present this as a message from God, in my view. In any event, she was right and her intuition was right, but the dream was ignored. I have to admit, I ignore 99% of my dreams. I don't remember ever having a dream which I felt was a message from God- not directly, anyway.
Holy Lord, my dreams are a mess of problems and multiple unsuccessful solutions. If you were to speak to me in a dream, it would be so very different than what I usually dream about, I do think I would notice. If you are trying to get through to me, a dream would probably work! 😇
Amen

Matthew 27:19 I was surprised by the story. Pilate’s wife actually interrupted him while judging Jesus. Her dream must’ve been powerful for her to do this. I’ve had dreams and I’ve had nightmares, but never one that led me to action. Her dream did, but Pilate was too afraid of the crowd to deny them. I’ve been wondering why Matthew included this detail. What am I supposed to learn? Her dream and action changed nothing. I think the bravery of Pilate’s wife makes Pilate even more weak in our eyes.
Prayer: Gracious God may I pay attention to every detail of my dreams and hope that you send me something important I am to do. Amen
Matthew 27: 19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: 'Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.'
In the time of Pilate dreams were taken seriously. I feel that Pilate felt that Jesus was innocent and the message from his wife reinforced that. Her dreams told her to have nothing to do with crucifixion of Jesus and she shared this with Pilate. However, Pilate gave into the mob and had Jesus crucified. I realize that this action was to fulfill the prophesy, but I would hope that I would have treated this differently.
Dearest Lord, you died…
Matthew 27:19
Pilate’s story has long fascinated me. As I read it, it seems as though Pilate is on the edge of actually believing that Jesus is no ordinary man. He surely knows Jesus has done nothing worthy of death but he is driven by politics. The dream of Pilate’s wife suggests she knew as well and her last minute plea to her husband represented the voice the Holy Spirit. Pilate’s wife heard that voice and was convinced - or at least fearful - while Pilate caved in to mob opinion not unlike many of our cowardly politicians on this Election Day. Would I pass such a test from God?

Matthew 27:19
While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that innocent man, for today I have suffered a great deal because of a dream about him.
Pilate’s wife sent an urgent message to her husband: ‘I’ve had a troubling dream. Do not have anything to do with this man. This dream frightened her so much that she felt the need to tell her husband about it. Dreams were given great significance in scripture more so than they are now. Usually they were seen as a warning against some danger, or a message sent by God to encourage a person to do something. b…
