1Peter 4:11
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
All of our strength comes from God. All of our courage, our moral strength, our physical prowess, our spiritual faithfulness- it all is a gift from God. With our faith in God, we will have all of the strength we need. Pain and suffering are, unfortunately often out of our control. But we know God has an endless supply of grace, and we know he continually heaps it on us. We can turn to Him for strength, and He will supply it.
Father God, When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted. Psalm 138:3. Amen

Peter addressed these two verses of speaking and serving (like and for)God. Learning to speak and serve others like God is not something that happens overnight. If I stay consistent and practice reading his word, understanding the scripture as it relates to my life, I will be able to speak and serve others, (of course, remembering that I have no special talents) but always gi…
1Peter 4:11 I have found that I have needed God‘s strength often as I perform my ministries. For example, it was difficult at first to try to work with the impaired elderly. Prayer led me to answers that have not only worked for them but are fun for me. I know that all I do is for God. I am acting as his hands and feet as I go through my days. Prayer, gracious God thank you always for both the ministries you provide me and the strength you give me to do them. Amen

I have found, in my readings and research, that there are gifts from God that I did not think about when first reading this verse. The Spiritual gifts mentioned by Peter are speaking gifts, serving gifts, and sign gifts. What I have read tells me that the sign gifts are specifically miraculous in nature and are used to confirm the validity of th…
1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. . . .
How difficult this would be. I can’t even conceive of how this would be. If we could eliminate all of the ungodly words spoken each day we would be in almost complete silence. All we can hope for is to feel the holy spirit in us and maybe it would modify our speech.
Dear Lord your Son and disciples set the bar so high that I cannot hope to achieve the goal. I promise to keep trying anyway. Amen.
1Peter 4:11 When I speak words I know in my heart are not the very words of God it undermines and diminishes my spiritual strength. This can can be built up again only by confession and reliance on God’s grace that allows me to exercise my weakened faith muscles and rebuild lost strength. When I remember all glory and honor are God’s and certainly not mine, my spiritual strength reaches new levels.
Prayer - Holy Spirit, guard my thoughts and my lips that every word I utter are the very words God would have me say; words that support, build up and encourage. in these my spiritual strength is fortified. Amen
