John 14:1
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me."
This trust we have been contemplating- it was present before Jesus, but here Jesus himself tells us to trust. He tells the disciples they need not fear death. Jesus will be at the end of that road. It is this same trust that led the early believers to travel all over and risk their lives for what they now knew to be the truth. They had faith, and so they needed to trust. As I have come to remember in this last week: trust is not only a noun; it is also a verb.
Lord God, I pray that my life, my words and my actions reflect my trust in you. If I can live in that trust, I know I will have peace. Lord, may your peace make itself known to others I meet. Amen

John 14: one Don’t let your heart be troubled. Trust in God, And trust also in me. Jesus own words should be reason enough for us to trust. When ever we doubt, whenever we question, whenever we worry, whenever we rely on our own selves, we need to remember his simple guidance – trust God and trust me. I see I have another verse I should read as I begin my day. Prayer: gracious God, trust should be simple, but I often rely on myself. May I remember these words when that happens. Amen

John 14:1
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
Such a short verse yet so profound. I imagine Jesus sitting with me right where I am at this moment, and I hear him saying to me do not let your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in me. Can I allow these consoling words to touch and sooth my heart. There are things in my life that are troubling me now BUT Let me be quiet and listen while he speak the precious words of this passage to me. They are one of the most comforting statements of Jesus. They reveal such love and appreciation of me. They pu…
John 14:1
Trust cannot be separated from belief. Even more, one cannot exist without the other. Together they soothe the troubled heart and mitigate fear in a way that earthly treasure simply cannot. I give heartfelt thanks for the gift of faith, not only in this season of Thanksgiving, but I desire to keep that thankful prayer in the forefront of my daily time with God.
Prayer - Merciful God, I give my humble thanks for the grace that led to faith, and for the faith that sustains in good times as well as times of trouble. Even when trouble comes I will trust in Jesus’ promise that He has overcome the world. Amen
