Proverbs 2:2-4

...turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,....

Man has sought to know and understand God for thousands of years. God has come to man and shown Himself a few precious times. But since sending Jesus, God gives the awesome gift of the Holy Spirit. With the help of the Holy Spirit we can be with God every minute of every day. Even with the Spirit living within us, we need to search, and ask, and listen for God. Understanding comes in small precious pieces. These insights are like silver or hidden treasure.

Lord God, help me to recognize and treasure the wisdom and understanding you make available to me. I will never stop seeking you. Amen

Proverbs 2:2-4

Knowledge is the facts and data that I have learned about or experienced. Wisdom is the ability to recognize this  knowledge and use it in a right, and lasting way in my life.  I look at the knowledge  available to me on the internet in published books and many other resources. However, all this knowledge is useless if I do not understand how to use it. Wisdom will be one of my most important lessons as my spiritual growth continues. The discipline required of maintaining a strong faith and vital witness can waver in an instant if I am not vigilant. Yet, so often when I feel like Paul, throw up my hands and say, “Wretched man that I am!” God takes hold of those hands and says, “Fear not. I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” This is the reason to cry out for insight and…

Proverbs 2: 2-4

2 Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding

Searching for Jesus and the understanding of what God expects from us. Learning with our heart. We must welcome God’s words, as well as the commandments and promises. Never questioning what God has shared with us. God speaks to us through the Bible and we hear it with our heart and soul.

Dearest Lord, help me to understand all that you share with us. Help me to put into practice what I read. You planted the seed of wisdom, now help me to help it grow it to its full potential. Amen.
