Psalm 130:1-8
Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD;
Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cry for mercy.
If you, LORD, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Israel, put your hope in the LORD,
for with the LORD is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
from all their sins.
Ephesians 1:7-8
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.
While reading last night before bed, I realized there are many things from my past which shaped the person I am today. This is not earth shattering news, but what if I have been blaming myself for not being a better person, when God has already forgiven all of that? The past is over, and forgiven. I need only work on being a better person. Each day is a new day, and the more I live my life as the person I want to be, the more I am following God’s will for me. How often do we read in scripture about forgiveness? There is a reason for that. We cannot live life as our best selves if we are dragged down by the past.
Holy Lord, you have blessed me over and over. I am so thankful for your grace and mercy. Help me to grow each and every day closer to you and closer to the person you would have me be. Amen

Psalm 130:1-8 Forgiveness
The forgiveness given to us by Jesus' sacrifice is the greatest gift we have received. By our own human nature we are all sinners. Jesus wants us to realize that! So stop sinning and ask for forgiveness. We ask everytime we pray His prayer. But, we need to remember that this prayer also instructs us to forgive others. If we expect forgveness, we must offer it as well.
Prayer: Gracious God, help me be more like you in offering forgiveness to others. AMEM

Every first Sunday we are told, “This is the blood of Christ, shed for the forgiveness of sins.” The impact of that reality is almost beyond comprehension. I will be testifying in a trial in just a little over two hours from now. The young man on trial will almost assuredly be convicted of something. What if, on announcement of the verdict, a person in the gallery rose up to say, “I will serve his sentence.” Do you think the young man would live the rest of his life in gratitude, demonstrating to others the mercy he received himself, despite doing nothing to earn it?
