John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
John 16:22 “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”
These are some of my favorite verses in the Bible. I especially love Jesus’ reassurance, “if it were not so, I would have told you.” It is such a human thing to say, but knowing the words are from Jesus fills me with joy. Joy is that promise of eternal life with God. How can I hold on to a bad mood or a frustrating moment, when Jesus has promised me eternity in relationship with Him?
Lord God, help me to hold on to this promise from you; to remember it and savor it when I am discouraged. Amen

John 14:1-3 When Jesus ascended into heaven, He promised those who had been with Him that He would return. He would take them to be with Him in the many mansions that He had gone to prepare. This is probably one of the most important messages in scripture. It contains the promise of Jesus’s word that the way to eternal life is secure although never seen. It is not only about life after death, but has everything to do with our lives here and now. It is a promise for believers because he has already prepared the way. There are few verses in scripture that describe eternal life, but these few verses are filled with answers. While …
John 14: 1-3, 16: 22
22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
We have all had circumstances in our lives that have brought us great heartache. But I find when I look back at these times, when the challenge was over, I felt relief and joy. We are here on earth at God’s will and have to endure whatever pain and suffering life sends our way. What we don’t have to do is feel sorry for ourselves. We should attempt to find joy in the challenge and outcome. Our biggest joy and one that will last forever, is spending…
John 14:1-3 John 16:22
Jesus is telling his disciples not to fear death because God has prepared a place for them and the message is that a place is there for us too. Death is a huge fear for many people because they do not believe this promise. I believe this promise and it brings me joy. I also believe that my joy comes from believing that I have had a blessed life, mostly because of two wonderful marriages. Who could ask for more?
Dear Lord, thank you. I see your hand in my life in many ways, especially when you caused me to meet Pat in a children’s choir at age 9 and having a long, happy life together.…
John 14:1-3 - “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
I cannot read these verses without thinking of high school. Our vocal music teacher, Robert Johnson, wrote and published a choral version of these three verses. I was not in the choir, but in the orchestra, and we accompanied the choir for performance this piece a number…
