Romans 12:11-12

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Father God, you know me better than I know myself. You know how bogged down I get with concerns over which I have no control. You know how I become discouraged and frustrated. You know how I fly off the track you have prepared for me. Today I ask you to help me remember to rejoice. Rejoicing in your presence ought to be the very essence of our lives here on this earth. I am led too often by how I feel in the moment, and lose sight of the big picture. I am thankful and I am yours, Amen.

Romans 12:11-12

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12. This verse shows us how to respond in various situations we may face. Our hearts should be full of joy because we have hope in Christ. When facing troubles, patience will prevent us from giving up before see the Lord. Prayer is something we always do because in every situation we know God will answer our prayers, in a way that shows we trust God in all situations. So this is what I should be doing. Don’t burn out; keep myself on fire with the word of God, Be a good and faithful servant to God. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. H…

Romans 12:11–12 Work hard and rejoice in that work and be patient. BUT, most of all keep praying. In the many Bible translations of this verse that I read, I saw nine commands to pray. There is no mistaking the fact that Paul considered prayer very important. The different words used were: devoted to, faithful to, persistent, perseverance, steadfast, constant, continually, at all times, and keep on praying. I am beginning to realize that I do not pray enough! Prayer: gracious God: remind me often to stop and pray during each day. Amen

It takes a great deal of energy and effort to serve the Lord. I know that I fall short of filling this pledge. I sometimes put God on hold in order to accomplish something else. I have to build up my faith and put my whole heart and soul in honoring God. Then I can rejoice in my relationship with Jesus, and this will enhance my personal relationship with others.

Dearest Lord, give me the grace to build my relationship with you. I know what I should do but sometimes life gets in the way…

Romans 12:11-12

The central phrase for me in this passage is, “serving the Lord.” It took a shamefully long time to figure out, but I eventually learned that there is no spiritual fervor, hope or patience in serving the causes of seeking worldly success and recognition, more dollars or possessions. it is service to and for the Lord, even in the mundane tasks of the everyday, that reveals a cause to rejoice.

Prayer - Holy God, I rejoice in the opportunity to serve You through my service to others in Your name Amen
