Proverbs 4:14-15
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.
This seems so simple and so easy to follow, but it is not always so simple. We need to recognize when we are being "led down the path". Realistically, this happens every day and whenever we are around others. Peer pressure can be so insidious, and it is not something that only middle-schoolers experience. For me it happens most with gossip. How often am I invited into a conversation about someone when the topic is clearly none of my business? How often do I initiate the conversation myself? (Reverse peer pressure?) I can do better.
Holy Lord, help me to be loving and considerate, and to mind my own business. Amen

Proverbs 4:14–15
It’s sometimes starts innocently enough. Fooling around and no one gets hurt. Then it begins to change. What do you do now? For young people, moving away from this bad behavior is difficult. My hope, as a parent, was always that I knew I gave them the tools to handle that situation. I think now, however, with church attendance so low and Sunday school almost nonexistent, what basis to young people have to make good decisions. These verses are such a good advice.
Prayer: gracious God please Lord, help people see the benefit of your words. Amen

Proverbs 4:14-15
Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil. Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.
This scripture is one of the many I researched yesterday on peer pressure. Paul verbally attacks the people or Corinth by telling them the company that they keep is destroying them. telling them they are gradually taking up the attitudes and culture of the surrounding world. He then urges them to wake up to what they stand to lose by being too close to the world—even worldly people who might be fellowshipping with us at services but do not believe in the…
Proverbs 4:14-15 It would appear the verses this week on peer pressure will be a natural extension of our study of discernment. We must use the latter to overcome the former. “Everybody’s doing it” has no place in the discernment process if, in our heart of hearts, we strongly sense that it is the path of the wicked. Standing apart from what the world says is acceptable can be uncomfortable and bring ridicule, but it is not the world I should be striving to please. If my focus is on my relationship with God, I will take the path less traveled.
Prayer - Gracious God, I thank You for Your powerful presence that guides my steps along the path of…
