John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
It is so easy to worry about the future. Even in the days when Christ walked with his disciples, there was trouble. "In this world you will have trouble." I have to believe there is a future which includes Jesus, just like he said. And for our time on this earth, Jesus lives in us, through his Holy Spirit. As much as I am able, I will live with this confidence, and try not to be too caught up in worrying about what is to come.
Holy Lord, Thank you for your grace, for all of your many gifts. I can never make it up to you, and I am undeserving. But I will live my best life, with the guidance of your Holy Spirit, into the future. Amen

John 16:33 “Name it and claim it” prosperity gospel hustlers don’t seem to acknowledge Jesus’ words in this verse. Nowhere in Scripture does it say salvation brings an end to trouble. What Scripture makes very clear is that God is with us through our troubles which will be no more in the heavenly realm. Indeed, our salvation may garner Satan’s special attention. While I may not know for certain what tomorrow will bring, faith provides the confidence of knowing what eternity will bring.
Prayer - Lord, My eternal future is secure in You. Help me to remember and rely on Your promised presence in my times of trouble and to share that good news with others who face their own. Amen
