2 Peter 1:19
And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
This is such a beautiful verse! I don’t think I have ever really taken note of it before. Peter is reminding us of the words of the prophets which prepare us for the coming of Christ. And he and the other disciples were eyewitness to all of it coming to pass! God’s Word is a “light shining in a dark place” and will bring that light back to us whenever we begin to doubt. What a blessing to be reading and sharing so often with all of you! God is good!
Holy Father, you are so good to me. Thank you! Amen

2 Peter 1:19 Jesus is the Bright Morning Star. The study is talking about dark places.. It's mostly talking about the places in our minds. The thoughts we think and the words we say. I believe what Peter is saying is that when the word of God shines through to our dark hearts and illuminates our hearts, and we experience the reality of Christ in our lives, we are to now brighten the path of those who have not yet received the light of His word.
Psalm 119:105 Lord, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
2 Peter 1:19 Because of that experience, the transfiguration, we have an even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp in a dark place – until that day dawns, and Christ the morning star shines in our hearts. Every Sunday morning and also at some Bible studies I have attended, candles are lit at the beginning. This is a symbolic act of bringing Christ’s light into our midst. This beautiful, poetic verse is a reminder of the prophecies fulfilled and yet to be filled; the second coming of Christ. Until then, we can use our study of the Bible to keep Christ’s light in…
2 Peter 1: 19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
I know the world is full of dark places. Satan’s work is everywhere. I, as a born again Christian, see the light of hope shining in that dark place I sometimes go. I have no doubt that Jesus will come again and I will have eternal life with him in heaven. There is no doubt in my mind about that outcome.
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of hope you share in this verse. Yo…

Doubts occur during the dark of night. Any difficulty that I am trying to solve seems impossible in the middle of the night. I try to think of pleasant things during these times but I am finding that thinking of, and talking to, God works better. I think that is what this verse is telling me. When the prophetic message gets through all things are possible.
Dear Lord thank you for be there for me…
2 Peter 1:19 “And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it . . .”
Prophets were frequently rejected and ridiculed in Old Testament Times and all the prophets of the New Testament from John the Baptist to the 12 Apostles were martyred. Two thousand years later humankind is still resisting their message. As Christians we must do our part to stay true to and promote the Word of the prophets, and it is certainly not the jibberish on subway walls and tenement halls that Simon and Garfunkel romanticized. It is the life and work of Jesus Christ.
