A Daily Devotion for Monday September 12

Hebrews 12:28

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

Sometimes it is difficult to keep in mind the kingdom to which we are headed. If I had a clearer picture, better resolution, and a time and a date, I might better be able to appreciate it. For now, though, I must trust in God, and try my hardest to follow him in a way that is pleasing to him. One of my goals from our upcoming pilgrimage is that I find a way for worship and communion with God to fill more of my waking hours than ever before. I pray that this might be possible.

Holy Lord, with you all things are possible. Amen

Hebrews 12:28 Since we are receiving a kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. Knowing how loved we are, and knowing that this earthly life is not all there is, we should always be thankful. Our worship, whether formal or informal, should show our love and respect for our God. Prayer: gracious God, thank you for the reminder that there is so much more to worship than one hour on Sunday morning. Amen

Hebrews 12:28

Jesus said it to Peter. All the power of Hell will not prevail against His church. The writer of Hebrews echoes this in giving thanks for the kingdom that cannot be shaken. Despite all that is heaped upon her, the bride of Christ, the church, cannot be shaken by any other force. I believe that. Any doubts that surface have nothing to do with the strength of the church and everything to do with my own strength to stand against those forces. It is here I must yield to the Holy Spirit in worship and in truth. If my strength comes from this source, I too will not be shaken.

Prayer - Spirit of God, fill and strengthen…

Hebrews 12:28

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe.

Since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken or removed, we should be a grateful people who worship God because of the great and mighty things He has done for us. While we look forward to eternity, we do not need to wait for it to experience the abundant, intimate life promised. Through Christ Jesus we have already begun eternal life. This is the point of view we should have each and every day of our lives, not focusing on the cares of this world,( becaus…

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe

I need to always remember what Christ has done for me and be forever grateful. I hope that my gratitude and praise for all he has done is acceptable to Him. I will always remember that Jesus’ death on the cross was His greatest gift to me. The promise of eternal life.

Dearest Lord, thank You for the saving grace through the death of Your Son, Jesus. I know His kingdom will never be shaken and that I have the promise of eternal life in heaven. I offer you my praise and gratitude for…

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

We have received a kingdom (not kin-dom), but it has been shaken, especially in this country. Our government has misconstrued the constitution and stripped God from our daily lives. I have become aware of this 80 years too late, but it is all the more reason why I should worship God acceptably with reverence and awe.

Dear Lord, help me to bring this realization to my sons and their families so that they might work to bring God back into our daily lives. Amen.
