John 5:31-39
verse 39: “You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about me,“
Jesus could not be more direct in this passage. He is telling his followers John was right. But even more importantly, Jesus reminds them God the Father has been preparing the way for him (Jesus) through the scriptures. They have had the “knowledge”, but not the wisdom.
Having knowledge is good- it is vitally important. But it does not make me wise by any means. Wisdom is being able to integrate and internalize God’s teaching and His will for me. And I do believe God is the only one who can make this way clear for me.
Holy Lord, help me to internalize your Word. I need your help and your light. There is more to discover and learn about your plans for the world, and for me. Help me to be more aware. Amen

John 5: 31-39
Jesus makes amazing claims about himself. People listened with open-mouths as Jesus made these claims. Many of them asked, How do we know he is telling the truth what evidence does he give. People can read the truth right from the Bible for years and years and never seem to apply it to their own lives until they hear it from another person. I would like to believe that I could be a source of truth for others when I share what Jesus has done in my live. We must not get upset when people do not believe what we say. If I have absolute belief and facts that what I am saying is true, I would tend to speak with grea…
John 5:38 - “and you do not have his word abiding in you, because you do not believe him whom he has sent.“
There are a number of strange aspects of seminary training. Some could be harmful to one’s faith without the protection of the Holy Spirit. One of my required textbooks for a course of John’s Gospel was written by “one of the foremost Johannine scholars of our time.” She also appeared to our class via a video interview with our professor. Adele Rienhartz has studied John her entire academic life. Here is the strange thing. She is Jewish, does not read the New Testament as divinely inspired or authoritative and does not believe Jesus of Nazareth is the…

“If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid. But someone else is also testifying about me, and I assure you that everything he says about me is true.”
Testifying is not about myself but others. Witnessing is not about talking about myself but about others. Especially, we as Christian as witnesses testify not about ourselves but God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. As Jesus said in today’s scripture, If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid.
Sometimes, I find myself who was not testifying the work God did in my life but my life how blessed by God. I…
