2Corinthians 8:1-5
And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us.
Acts 20:35
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
These words of Jesus are words many of us grew up hearing. I remember hearing them as a child, and taking them to heart. I have always liked to give gifts. This is definitely a way that I show love. But I do still struggle with larger gifts, monetary gifts, which run the risk of putting us behind in our bills or other responsibilities. I marvel at those who can give such gifts and trust that God will help them make ends meet. If God asked me to sacrifice something big, could I give it to someone (or something) who needed it more? This is a tough question in our day and age. I hope that my trust in God would allow me to do the right thing.
Holy Lord, help me to be generous in all of my giving. Help me to see the needs of others, and respond. You will take care of my needs. Amen

Corinthians 8:1-5 / Acts 20:36
Giving…what is there not to enjoy? Whether it is the giving of money, material items, talents or time, it is all fun and nourishes my spirit. I especially love the anonymous gift. All of this is the example of what we give gives back to us. As we enter the holidays and enjoy this season of giving, I hope to continue the gift of giving throughout the year, especially to those who are in need and to my church.
There are so many opportunities. We have the example of the greatest gift of all, the gift of salvation!
Dear God, thank You for Your gift of salvation. I pray to You that the spirit of…
2 Corinthians 3:1-5. Acts 20:35
My cousin and her husband recently sold a very successful business to a National Firm of the same kind. They had worked long and hard to make their company successful. The dollars and the zeros associated with the sale were astronomical to me. While they have more than they need, they wanted to do more. They have started a Charitable Foundation. It helps small groups, but recently worked with Easter Seals and veterans groups about homes for veterans. Most of us will never have the means to give back in this manner. We should remember, however, that using our time and talents to serve Him is just as good. Jesus, himself, said if…

Blessed to give
(Focus: for a spirit of generosity
Acts 20:35
In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
The practices of giving are taught in the Bible and when obeyed, will bring blessings to both givers and recipients. But the greater blessings fall on the giver than on the recipient because "it is more blessed to give than to receive"We can give of our time, talent, and treasures to those in need because of the work that God does through us. Every gift…
2Corinthians 8:1-5/Acts 20:35
November has, in the past, been a time when many churches had their stewardship campaigns. We don’t see this too much anymore and there are many good and bad reasons for it. Regardless of whether or not there is a formal campaign, Scripture frequently stresses the importance and value of sharing our blessings of time, talent and treasure with others. we will never know the blessings associated with generous giving until we give generously. Rather than seasonal. For Christians it should be a lifestyle.
Prayer - Generous God, please place in me a generous heart that freely and willingly gives to support those in need. Amen
