A Daily Devotion for Monday, March 6

1 Timothy 4:11-13

Command and teach these things. Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.

Here Paul instructs Timothy on how to be a mentor to others who are new in their faith. Much of Timothy's mentoring comes from setting a good example. The life I live as a follower of Christ should look different than the life of one who does not believe. This is part of mentoring, too: "passive" mentoring. I am not sure I have always been successful at this. Do those who know me superficially know the most important thing about me?

Father God, help me today to be your light to others, to set a more holy example, and to be the person you would have me be. Amen
