1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Paul encourages the Thessalonians to be ready for Christ to come again. He reminds them it could be at any time. I wonder if there was concern that early followers would fall away from their faith if Christ did not return quickly. In any event, encouraging one another and keeping our faith strong and vital, is always a good thing. It helps us each to be a stronger witness.
Holy Lord, my friendships with other believers are like gold. Help me to be a good friend to those who do not know you, as well. Please give me guidance to share my faith when it will be heard. Amen

Thessalonians 5:11
As Paul prepares his churches for Christ’s second coming, he reminds them to continue encouraging each other. The King James Version uses the word comfort each other. If I think of my friendships, I like the use of both words. In all friendships we have the opportunity to do both – encourage and comfort the other person depending upon the situation.
Prayer: gracious God, help me to always be an encourager and a comforter. Amen

This is the kind of friendship that Christ wants us to have .Who doesn’t like to receive an encouraging word.🤩🥴Who doesn’t appreciate a kind word spoken when we need it the most. Who doesn’t have the knowledge that someone will stands by. Encouragement is so valuable. We should rejoice when our friends receive an award or recognition. We should encourage them to grow in their relationship with Christ. This scripture was never more prevalent than in our church service this morning. Recognizing the Ordination and Commission of our beloved member Thomas Andrew . Ordination will be the fina…
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Genuine friendship, marked by building each other up can only be done in face to face community. No number of “likes” can replace the smile, encouraging words spoken or warm hug of a true friend. Never in a million years could I imagine Paul looking at “social” media and consider it “just as in fact you are doing.” He would likely say, “Put away that electronic thing and go take a long walk with your friend. Talk, share and build one another up.”
Prayer - Merciful God, grant us the desire to seek out friendship and share of ourselves as a friend to those in need of fellowship. Give me a heart to build up my friends, encouraging…
