Psalm 107:8-9
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
These verses could be read and interpreted in different ways. They could be interpreted literally, but this only gets me so far, and leaves me with many unanswerable questions. When I read the verses with a more open mind, I see the potential for God to give us what we need, and what we long for, through relationship with Him. This begins before we are even born, lasts through our lifetimes and continues through eternity. God created us to hunger for him, and we do. And God, in turn, listens and responds. We hunger and thirst for this relationship.
Lord above, I am so thankful for your many blessings. But keep me hungry, I pray. May I never turn away from my hunger and thirst for a closer relationship with you. Amen

Psalm 107:8-9
Of course, the first thing I thought of was a hymn. Hymn #629 in our hymnal is meant to be sung at communion, “You satisfy the hungry heart with the gift of finest wheat. Come give to us, O saving Lord, the read of life to eat.” What a beautiful invitation to communion for us today. The Psalmist is reminding us of all the spiritual thirst and hunger God has satisfied for us. Such love our God has for all of us.
Prayer: Gracious God, so many hunger and thirst for the love on,y yiu can give. May I help someone find you. Amen

What do I usually say about myself. I never get anything right, or I worry all the time. When I speak this way I am saying what I truly think. The only problem with this attitude is that what I am saying does not agree with God’s word. I need to truly live by faith and believe God’s promises, and my prayers should reflect this positive attitude. God loved me before I ever truly felt his love. When I truly believe what God saids, then…
Psalm 107:8-9
The phrase “unfailing love” is what strikes me in today’s reading. I have always seen preparing and sharing meals for and with others as an act of love. This is a perfect metaphor for the way God shares love with us. The meal may be as simple as soup and bread or as sumptuous as a seven course feast. When it is shared in an atmosphere of mutual love they are equally satisfying. So it is with God’s blessings great and small. With each one we are nourished, renewed and retired.
Prayer - Loving God, living with the knowledge and confidence that Your love is unfailing, I can face life’s momentary trials knowing my soul will ever be…
