A Daily Devotion for May 28, Thursday

John 7: 37-39

verses 37b-38 “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”

Some of the verses for today were confusing for me. I can really easily get caught up in trying to figure out literally what was meant by every phrase. I do know the image of water was used by Jesus to indicate the Spirit, His presence and His Power, in different instances. Here, I think Jesus again is urging me to get my sustenance from Him. He can fill me up to overflowing, and I should need little else on this earth. God fulfills my needs and gives me the power of His Spirit. Am I using this power as He would have me use it? Am I aware of what I am capable of accomplishing for Him?

Holy One, I am grateful beyond words. I would like to live my days in the power of your Spirit, not wasting one drop. Help me to see your leading steps, your hand, your guidance. Amen
