A Daily Devotion for May 26, Tuesday

Psalm 104: 24-34

Verses 29-30 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.

Today when I read these verses I am brought right to the present and our pandemic. It is tempting at times to wonder “why” and to feel as if God has turned this on us for some reason. I struggle with the conflict between wanting to control my own outcome (health) and knowing God alone is in control. He is here with me, and with all of us. He wants good things for us, but they do not always come easily and the way we would choose. Not only has God breathed life into me, he has sent His very own Spirit to dwell in me. With this protection, even death loses its power.

Holy Lord, Your Word is beautiful and full of your love. Thank you for the message of hope this morning, and the encouragement to be free from fear. Your love is amazing! Amen
