Philippians 1: 20-21
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
These are wonderful guiding words for me. While here on earth, we all have the opportunity to live out our lives as God intended us to live them out. When we die, we will be with Him forever. To use an expression my mom used often, it’s “the best of both worlds”. My charge is to do my part here on earth. These are words to keep ready in my heart: patience, understanding, generosity, forgiveness, acceptance, hospitality. I must keep my eye on the prize while living out this life God has allowed me to live.
Heavenly Father, I am so thankful. I ask you with humility to forgive me all of my blunders and my lapses. Help me, and guide me with the light of Christ here on earth. I look forward to the day when I will join with you for eternity, but also am so thankful for this life full of love and beauty. I am yours. Amen

Philippians 1:20-21 Not a long scripture but much to meditate on. I know so many people who don’t believe in God, and sadly do they know what they have is all they can have. With just being in this world, and not of this world, they get to struggle for all the worldy values. Money, popularity, power, pleasure, and prestige. In this passage Paul’s entire purpose in his life was to speak out boldly for Christ and to become more like him (imprisoned or not.) his letter to the Philippians is filled with encouragement and words of victory. I cannot read this verse without thinking of a magazine I receive called “Voice of the Martyrs.” In it are stories of members of the persecuted church around the world who face incredible hardship because of their faith in Jesus. Rejected by family, economically ostracized, beaten by police, imprisoned and even killed, these precious children of God put it all on the line for the One they worship. These examples keep me humble about how I represent Jesus. I often complain of the faithlessness of the culture, but what more must I to promote faith?

21 For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
To live is Christ. To be able to follow Christ, to have Him as my main focus daily is what I strive to do. Christ should be the center point of my thoughts, my body and soul. I will always attempt to not fall down even though I am human and sin. I will always look to Jesus and attempt to do everything in His name.
Dearest Lord, help me to live in Christ. Give me the grace to always look to Jesus and attempt to be like Him. I know this is impossible but I will strive to do my best to follow…
