A Daily Devotion for June 1, Monday

Genesis1:1-2:4

Genesis 1:26a Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness,”

After God created the heavens and the earth and all of the animals, he created man, in His “own image.” Of course, it is confusing to me to read the plural “us, we, our” in the verse. Who was God talking to? Is He referring to all aspects of Himself, the Trinity? Regardless, we were created to resemble God. Do I resemble God? In what way am I like God? God created me to love His creation, all of it. He created me to put myself last, and to consider the needs of others. He created me to share the good news of Jesus. Am I living up to God’s plan for me? I have really been thinking a lot about these questions, and today’s reading lays them out in front of me, again. Transforming involves God’s grace and action on my part.

God, you know my heart. Please open my eyes, and help me to see your path. Amen
