verses 11-12 The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
God gives Moses this enormous job. Moses knows himself pretty well, and tells God he isn’t up to it. God reminds Moses it is He who gives us all of our talents and strengths. We never cease to question God’s decisions. I am daily questioning on some level if I was cut out to be doing what I am doing. It is not that I entirely lack confidence. I know that I am good at what I do. But there are times when demands on me push me to my very limit, and I wonder, “Am I really cut out for this?” This happens in all aspects of our lives- at home, at work, in our relationships with friends. The part I need to remind myself is this: God put me in this position and in this situation, right here and right now. He has led me here, and expects me to step up with all of the strengths and gifts he has supplied for me. They are sufficient, because He is sufficient.
Holy Father, I am thankful for all you have given me. I will try not to doubt my own abilities, as these abilities were given to me, by you, for this very moment. Every day, every minute. Amen.
