A Daily Devotion for Friday, October 2

Galatians 6:11-18

verses 14-15: May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation.

Circumcision is just one of many

laws and rules that could be inserted into this passage with the same general message. It is my recognition and full acceptance of the sovereignty of Christ which makes me a new creation. The other rules do not change my relationship with God. Only my acceptance and welcoming of Christ will do this. How does this look in my life? I am not sure it is always evident.

Holy Father, help me to choose the important changes in my life over the unimportant ones. What are the changes you would have me make? Grant me wisdom, and please grant me courage. Amen

The Christians in Galatia were being misled by those who said this could or could not be done only if They followed certain Jewish laws. This was not true at all. Just imagine a prisoner who has been set free But wants to…

Galatians 6:17 - “From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.“

Just what are the marks of Jesus? Are they the same as the fruit of the Spirit? Why is it that it seems in today’s world the marks of Jesus practically invite rather than repel trouble? Today’s passage was a reminder that the Christian life is not defined by a list of dos and don'ts, but by a relationship with a Person and seeking to be transformed into His likeness. When that begins to happen, it should show. How that transformation is perceived by others is beyond our control, but whether it is acceptance or rejection the relationship…
