Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Transformation involves seeking God’s will without allowing distractions to pull us off the path or stall us out. This passage of scripture holds so much wisdom. Even this morning I am struggling with thoughts of a recent conversation at work. There is nothing I can do about it now, there are no adjustments or corrections to be made, no apologies necessary. I am simply preoccupied with it. I am distracted. When the world pulls on me to pay attention, I need to remember my way. I want to stay “ontrakk”.
Lord God, Help me, please, to remain in your will with everything I choose. I seek to be transformed, and not distracted. I want to be on your path. Amen

Romans 12:2
The distractions this world offers us are difficult to overcome. It takes each of us working hard to shut out the noise of the world to find the peace offered us. Once we learn to put time for God before time for the distractions, we can make progress in our transforming into someone God will find ready for him to use.
Prayer: Gracious God, help me to always put time in for you first without distractions. Amen

Romans 12:2 is invaluable in the battle of our mind. For many years after I accepted Jesus as my savior I went to church on Sunday and believed in Jesus as my savior, but I had not committed myself to him for his use. I am still learning how to be fully committed to him. If I want to follow God’s will my mind needs to be continually transformed to be in agreement with God’s word, not my own…
Romans 12:2
The world, even with all that is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy. is still teeming with bright and shiny distractions that masquerade as good, but end up moving us away from the will of God for us, the Great Commandment and Great Commission. Facing the fact that the pattern of the world is often the antithesis of God’s will and renewing one’s mind to be in obedience may result in pushback from our “enlightened” post-modern culture that fashions itself as too sophisticated to believe the “myths and fairy tales” of Christianity. Transformation involves learning to withstand the rejection and staying focused on His good, pleasing and perfect will.
