A Daily Devotion for Friday, June 19th

Jeremiah 20: 7-13

verse 9: But if I say, “I will not mention him or speak any more In his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.

Even though Jeremiah is complaining here, I feel so much admiration for him and for his faith. This verse is a beautiful description of that faith. “His word is in my heart like a fire...” These are the words of one who knows who his master truly is. I love the analogy, and can feel the fire I have inside my heart. Being in God’s Word daily is the feeding of that fire. But there is so much more I can do, throughout the day. Prayer, reflection and action all add to the fire of faith. I need to take in this analogy and

make it mine.

Holy and all powerful God, You started a fire inside of my heart and I cannot ignore it. Help me to look for ways to use this power today, for your good. I am yours, Amen
