Philippians 2:6-11
verses 6-7: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
In my NIV Bible, chapter two is subtitled: Imitating Christ’s Humility. These two verses describe how Jesus, although he was God, chose to live his human life as a servant. This is such a powerful message. It puts my servanthood into perspective. If being a servant is primary, all else should be secondary. Is being a servant of God primary in my life, or is is something I do when I have time? God knows the truth and loves me anyway, but I can do better. I will never be like Jesus, but I can inch my way in His direction.
Jesus, please hear my prayer. I want to live my life more fully in servanthood to you. Help me, Lord. Amen
