1Peter 1:8-9
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
There is no doubt now, God helped me pick out these verses for the week! :o) What a beautiful passage! I believe this describes the source of all joy. Many things draw me closer to God if I allow them to do so, and joy is in that journey. Joy is knowing God, and knowing He loves me. Joy is having faith we will live with Him forever.
Father God, you are the source of all joy, drawing me in and holding me close. I am safe and at peace knowing you are looking over me. Thank you for all of the ways you remind me each day. Amen

1 Peter 1:8-9
Peter, who had a personal knowledge of Jesus, is praising the people saying although you have never seen him, you love him, and without seeing him, you now believe in him. This reminds me of what Jesus said to Thomas after the resurrection: Blessed are those who have not seen but have believed (John 20:29). Through our faith, we are in direct contact with Jesus. God has given me everything that I need to live my life. I so want to know God more, I want to feel how beautiful and mighty He is. I know I am lacking in my faith and I must ask God to provide me with more wisdom, strength, and trut…
Excellent thoughts. We all need to work for the good of all, not just a few.
1 Peter 1: 8-9
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of you souls.
Looking forward to the salvation of my soul gives me great joy. All that I have believed in will come true. “I believe in God, the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth”. This is my faith and this faith has and will always bring me great joy.
Dearest God, you sent me the Holy Spirit to enlighten my heart and mind to know you. This faith I…
I thought this pray from Max Lucado, “God is With You,” was appropriate to end this week’s readings:
A prayer for light and joy
Luke 2:10 Do not be afraid for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
Father, thank you that you have no problem walking through the walls that I sometimes hide behind. I welcome you to come with your forgiveness and shed light and joy into my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As I read this passage, I cannot help but wonder if the root of so many of the issues that roil the church in the 21st century stem from a failure to understand the goal of our faith. As well intentioned and honorable as many of the goals given highest priority by different factions of the church, we lose sight of the Scriptural truth that Jesus came to save
