Acts 20:24
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me- the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.
The small monument above is to St. James, remembering his pilgrimages through Spain and Portugal, sharing the Good News, and to the millions of pilgrims who followed to honor him in Santiago, Spain. Paul, likewise, gave up his life to bring people to Christ. Jesus called both of these men- chose them and laid out their ministry. They were faithful servants of God.
Father God, sometimes I am not sure what it is you would have me do for you. But I know there are opportunities you place in my path. Help me to remember your message to me while in Portugal- to never pass up an opportunity to do a small kindness for someone. For now, that is my mission and my ministry.
Lord, today I ask for peace for Bev, for her surgery to go well and to go smoothly. You know what a fine soldier she is. She is loved by so many, and she loves you fiercely. Please hold her close today and help her to get through this surgery successfully so she can walk and be with her church family and friends again. Amen

X 20:24 This is from Beverly. She sent it to me to post for her today. Paul had examined his good and bad situations and decided to put Jesus Christ ahead of everything else. Paul was a faithful witness both in the life that he lived in the message that he preached. He had faced this decision early and his ministry and had willingly made this the number one priority in his life. This particular chapter is Paul’s farewell to the infusions. As Rosalind and I study the gospel of acts we learned that Paul’s most important goal of his life was to tell others about Christ. For the people that God has called for this mission he is looking for more men…
Acts 20:24 Paul was amazing. His passion and single-mindedness about spreading Jesus good news is difficult to imagine. That doesn’t mean we can’t do something depending upon our own talents. Our lives will be enriched by whatever we do. And in spreading the good news, other lives will be enriched also. Prayer: gracious God, help people understand that all ministries, big and small, pleasing to you and help spread your good news. Amen
Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.
This verse tells me that God never intended our spiritual life to only be at Sunday service. God wanted our life to be an adventure, and I find it is. Life is full of challenges, some difficult, some sad, but that is our life on earth. We are given a ministry that is personal and ours alone. How we live, how we interact with people and how we serve our God. I could never be like Paul, but I will always…
Acts 20:24
In this verse we hear the voice of experience. We hear the voice of one who has served well and wants to finish strong. This is a common theme I hear among dedicated Christian men with whom I speak about this season of our lives. The senior years do not represent a time to ease off the throttle and coast home. Our final ministry push for the kingdom should be vigorous and a model for those coming behind us.
Prayer - God of power, strengthen my resolve to minister to others with Your love, making plain to them the grace that You offer is free to all. Be with our beloved sister, Bev this day and may her…
