1 Corinthians 10:31

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.“

The church at Corinth was in conflict, with different factions insisting on their own way. We have not changed much 21 centuries after Jesus taught what the Christian life should entail. Thinking of how much spiritual energy is wasted in the church that does not glorify God should remind us how to better focus our devotion.

Prayer - God of all we do, forgive us for our petty squabbles and conflicts that divert our attention from the source of all that is good in our lives. May we always keep at the forefront of our minds to do all we do from the simplest tasks to the most complex projects for Your glory. Amen

1 Corinthians 10: 31 One thing I really like about this passage is how it is all-inclusive. What I mean is that at the end Paul adds, or whatever you do. That includes everything, everything I do. How do I glorify God, how can I make Him known, how can I represent him with my actions and with my life. When talking to that difficult co-worker, that grumpy customer, that impossible sibling, that unreasonable spouse, that know-it-all parent, in all things, in every conversation, in interactions in person, online, or on the phone, in all things live for God’s glory. Even when I mess up, my sins, he can still get glory as I confess and repent because this pleas…

1 Corinthians 10: 31-33

3 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.

I think of this quote when I read these passages. “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

I will do my best to please God. He is the only one that really counts. So I will live my day doing everything in His name and hoping I make some kind of a difference. Pleasing God and keeping in mind all that Jesus did for us is my goal.

Dearest Lord, pleasing…

I have had such experience in a church in the past. A certain few with "big egos" wanting to be in charge of everything. Not letting others be heard or "taken in to the fold" so to speak. Can be very difficult when people are not working for the good of all. Prayer and cool heads are needed to keep things on the right track so that we can do the work of God.
