Mark 10: 43-45
”Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Jesus came to us on earth to reconcile us to Him. There was no evidence at any time of Jesus trying to make a name for himself or to be seen as great. Yet we continue to act as if being successful or well-liked or “busy” is in some way our purpose here on earth. Jesus was clear when instructing us to serve others. We are to put ourselves below others and think of their needs first. We are not to measure ourselves against others. Simple, clear instructions- why so hard to live by? My selfishness is powerful. Satan must be busy stoking that fire.
Holy Father, help me to keep Satan out of my life. Help me to think of others before myself and to be kind when being snappish or selfish comes more readily. I need you, Lord. Amen
